In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Shameful House Committee Chair DOROTHY L. HUKILL Disrespects Former Mayor and Other Residents of Fullerwood and Nelmar Terrace Neighborhoods!
As Chair of the Economic Affairs Committee, State Rep. DOROTHY L. HUKILL yesterday limited St. Augustine residents, including former Mayor George Gardner, to only 30 seconds in speaking against eminent domain legislation. This is an outrage, and shows extreme bias. Volusia County voters should vote her out on her errant ear -- she is tone-deaf for peoples' rights.
The rules of the Florida State House of Representatives give people speaking at legislative hearings three minutes, not 30 seconds.
Yet willful committee chairman DOROTHY L. HUKILL set a hearing for 8AM, did not get to the St. Augustine issue until 2PM, and only gave thirty (30) seconds to our former Mayor George Gardner, and other St. Augustine residents to speak out against HB 1037.
This is shameful and disgraceful.
We have a right to speak. This is a democracy.
Our putative state Representative WILLIAM L. PROCTOR is FLAGLER COLLEGE CHANCELLOR. He is the longtime former FLORIDA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF AND BLIND CHAIRMAN. He also accepted state money as FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY'S INTERIM ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, while serving in the State House of Representatives.
Our putative state representative, DR. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR, ED.D., is a walking conflict of interest.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR has made a pig's breakfast of our rights.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR is a cognitive miser who recently claimed he was elected because he wanted to perpetrate this eminent domain bill.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR did not bother telling the voters -- he had a secret plan, and kept it secret till now. (Kind of like RICHARD MILHOUS NIXON, who ran for President in 1968 telling of a "secret plan to end the war." Only RICHARD MILOUS NIXON said he had a "secret plan," while PROCTOR had one but kept a secret until now.)
PROCTOR would give undeserved eminent domain powers to a peculiar institution, one that has run roughshod over our City of St. Augustine's zoning and planning codes, and the rights of the Nelmar Terrance and Fullerwood neighborhoods.
REP. PROCTOR's legislation, HB 1037, is a stench in the nostrils of our Nation.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR's disgraceful reason for sponsoring the legislation -- to benefit a high-handed educational institution (one of several he has been involved in) shows the same contempt for democracy as demonstrated by Commodore Vanderbilt, who famously told a reporter, "Let the public be damned."
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR is a menace to our community.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR adamantly refused to support Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT), which would give St. Augustine half of what Flagler College would pay if it paid property taxes.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR has done nothing to help our community.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR is a racist bully who admits few African-American students who don't play basketball.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR is a First Amendment violating authoritarian who fires professors for protected activity.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR is a lout who throws his weight around like some 800 pound gorilla, Republican Lord of all he surveys.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR deserves to have his butt handed to him by Governor Scott and the State Legislature.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR should hang his head in shame.
Rep. WILLIAM L. PROCTOR, upon his retirement, should go out to California and genuflect at the feet of the Master, RICHARD MILHOUS NIXON.
This is someone who obviously has a conflict of interest and wants their way or no way.
ReplyDeleteDr. William Proctor has shown a great care for his community and the citizens of St. John's County for decades.
Who or what organization has done more for the preservation, advancement, employment and promotion of St. Augustine than Flagler College or Dr. Proctor? I can think of only the Kenan and Lewis families.
Get you facts straight before posting such non-factual and self serving statements.
Thank you Dr. William L. Proctor for everything you have done to make St. Augustine and St. John's county a wonderful place to live, work, study, raise a family and retire.
