It is now 1 PM. The Assistant City Manager just sent an Excel spreadsheet, listing all the offices and people with policies, apparently expecting us to visit three different addresses and multiple floors.
Needs to be on the City's website, and policies must be approved by Commissioners, as the purchasing handbook was recently approved.
Our elected Commissioners are the policymakers, not City employees.
There are no City Manager policies. Why?
There is no central Policy Manual, online or otherwise. Why?
Now sit up straight and get this right!
Regarding this; "There is no central Policy Manual, online or otherwise. Why?"
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing up policy Ed, few people understand how important clearly written — and fairly and equally enforced — policy is to good government. Few people also understand that policy is the child of legislation and when that legislative process is corrupt the policy it spawns will also be; corrupt, evasive, non existent, misleading and selectively enforced.
Demanding to see and examine policy is a great back door pathway for we the people to understand the integrity — OR LACK OF INTEGRITY — of government and the laws they create.
Good on you! Press on! This is a key issue!
