In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Good news -- Update on Cape Care Plan www.capecare.info
At their annual Town Meetings, the Cape Cod (Mass.) towns of Provincetown, Yarmouth, Wellfleet, Truro, Eastham, Brewster, and Harwich have all supported the Cape Care Plan -- locally controlled single payer health insurance, which has the backing of doctors, patients, hospitals, employers and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. The proposal was narrowly defeated in Sandwich (110-134) and discussion was disallowed by the moderator in Dennis. Three more Town Meetings will be held and votes taken starting May 8 (Chatham, Bourne and Orleans). Our community can learn from this debate and discuss how we might provide health care to all of our people, with local control. www.capecare.info These are exciting times and exciting ideas.
