When Will Questions on $1.8 Million Illegal Bell Jet Ranger Luxury Helicopter Purchase Be Answered By DORAN, WOLFE, ANSAY & KUNDID Lawyer CAROLYN STROUD ANSAY?
Anastasia Mosquito Control District Spends More Than $13,000 on Legal Advice For Three Months, Lawyer CAROLYN STROUD ANSAY refuses to answer re: legality of the $1.8 million Bell Jet Ranger Helicopter purchase without a majority vote. What's going on here?
DORAN, WOLFE, ANSAY & KUNDID billed Anastasia Mosquito Control District (AMCD) of St. Johns County $13, 189.38 for minor legal services, including $220 hour for attorney travel time to and from Daytona, and an expensive courier service, for April-June 2007.
The bill does not include any litigation. It is several times what AMCD paid to GEOFFREY DOBSON, its prior counsel, who quit after refusing to answer questions.
DORAN, WOLFE, ANSAY & KUNDID's bills for three months services include an illogical memorandum trying to exculpate AMCD Chair BARBARA BOSANKO for taking money for mileage she had not driven.
However, DORAN, WOLFE, ANSAY & KUNDID's estimable services did not include any effort to address longstanding questions regard the purchase of a $1.8 million helicopter without competitive bidding, asked by Commissioners John Sundeman and Jeanne Moeller.
Why does DORAN, WOLFE, ANSAY & KUNDID answer some Commissioners questions, but not others? Why does it act like questions on the helicopter and land purchase require an affirmative vote to do legal work, while efforts to suppress free speech don't require a vote?
Why would a governmental entity hire DORAN, WOLFE, ANSAY & KUNDID without Ms. Ansay showing up for the interview?
Why would a governmental entity suppose that an insurance defense firm would be suited to advise it on mosquito control?
Why wouldn't a governmental entity check a corporate law firm's references from other governmental agencies (like the Town of Ponce Inlet) before hiring them as a "compromise?"
No more coverups. No more flummery and dupery.
Answers are requested, but not necessarily expected, at the AMCD meeting at 4 PM, Thursday, August 9 at AMCD, 500 Old Beach Road, St. Augustine Beach, Florida.
As French philospher Albert Camus once said, "we must first postulate denial and absurdity because that is what our generation has encountered."
