In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

The Plot Thickens (Or the Thick Plottens?) -- PBSJ Scandal Touches on St. Johns County
PBSJ Vice President Charles Padera serves on our St. Johns County land acquistion board. PBSJ also does work for St. Johns County.
Padera also represents St. Johns County in the Florida Inland Navigation District FIND), which he chairs, a double-appointee of former Governor Jeb Bush, whose top enviornmental and agriculture policy aide now heads PBSJ's "strategic positioning."
PBSJ Vice President Padera heads Army Corps of Engineeers work on the Everglades cleanup and works closely with the Corps as Chair of FIND
Other top PBSJ executives have been found guilty of embezzlement, false claims and illegal campaign contributions, reportedly laundering "travel reimbursement" money to give hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions, six of them to Florida Senator Mel Martinez from nonexistent persons.
Efforts to reach Mr. Padera for an interview have been unavailing. Thoroughgoing invnestigations are needed throughout the United States, especially here in the notorious St. Johns County.
