In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Deadwood laid off -- nine health and human services administrators laid off by St. Johns County Administrator
Is this is the same poorly run department that threatened Dr. Dwight Hines and I with arrest for creating a "disturbance" when we insisted on access to public records that would have shown they were doing nothing to address our infant mortality problem and its causes in St. Augustine and St. Johns County? is this the office that told us to go elsewhere for records on babies dying here in St. Augustine and St. Johns County? Is this the same office that habitually treats low-income so arrogantly?.
If so, way to go, County Administrator Michael Wanchik!!
Let the word go forth, from this time and place, that every government employee who violates their duties under Open Records, Sunshine, Freedom of Information and other laws may be fired by city, county, state and federal administrators.
Time wounds all heels, as my mother says.
Let no coverup artist be unscathed.
Let no harasser be unprosecuted.
Let no prevaricator be unscared.
Democracy is on the march.
Deceitfulness is in retreat.
The people have spoken.
When citizens ask for records and are treated disrespectfully, let us know.
In the immortal words of Clint Eastwood, "Go ahead, make my day."
