Mosquito Control District Never Needed to Buy a Helicopter and Still Doesn't Need to Buy A Helicopter

as revealed at yesterday's meeting of the Anastasia Mosquito Control District (AMCD) of St. Johns County. Kudos to five Commissioners for learning from past mistakes -- Commissioner Emily Hummell rightly said last year that AMCD Commissioners were misled by the staff (e.g., including GEOFFREY DOBSON, then-attorney, who falsely claimed the purchase of a luxury Bell Jet Long Ranger helicopter was somehow "sole source."

Not covering the AMCD meeting was the St. Augustine Wreckord, whose sins of omission and commission in covering county and city government meeting boggle the mind. Whether calling the AMCD General Manager "Patricia Greer" instead of Priscilla Green, or simply omitting news coverage, the St. Augustine Wreckord's news service to its readers is declining.

It was improving last year, but budget cutbacks due to Morris Communications' profligacy has rendered the paper a joke.

Who will buy the Wreckord and save it from the Morris family's Philistinism?

It's time we had a newspaper, instead of a viewspaper. See below.
