WILLIAM L. PROCTOR ON THE DEFENSIVE; BEACH CIVIC LEAGUE TRIES TO EXCLUDE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL NOMINEE FAYE ARMITAGE FROM FORUM
At last night's St. Augustine Beach Civic Association Forum, Representative WILLIAM L. PROCTOR was plainly on the defensive. He should be. He has no record, but he tried to defend it anyway. PROCTOR is a weasel who has evaded and avoided our June 11, 2008 Open Records request (see below), still not providing documents and trying to charge fees for copies we haven't decide if we want yet. PROCTOR is an out-of-touch mossback, the meanest man in St. Augustine.
Meanwhile.that forum, like so many others, forced people to ask their question on cards, while silencing the voices of real people asking real qustions.
Handling it like card sharks were moderator John Reardon and St. Augustine Beach Civic League mavens ROBERT and ANDREA SAMUELS, who tried to interfere with Democratic Congressional candidate Faye Armitage speaking. She was a little late because of a family emergency.
Finally, Democratic activist Ann Palmquist had the perspicacity to ask Congressman JOHN MICA's aide, WILEY DECK, if he had any problem with Faye Armitage speaking. He said no. Thereupon, Reardon and the SAMUELS relented. Later, the SAMUEL gave a political reason for trying to exclude Faye Armitage from speaking -- her association with my friends Ann Palmquist and Robin Nadeau (who support ANDREA SAMUELS' opponent for City Commissioner).
Enough dictators dictating who gets to speak and who gets to ask questions, demanding we use cards. Enough control freakery and card sharkery.
I like the way that St. Paul's A.M.E. does it -- people get to stand up and ask candidates questions, without being molested.
