Hurricane Katrina to be revisited at EWLI breakfast

Publication Date: 08/06/08

"Hurricane Katrina Revisited" is the program title at 7:30 a.m. Friday for The Enterprising Women's Leadership Institute Breakfast Bunch gathering at the Wildflower Cafe, corner of Dondanville Road. Speaker will be Judith Seraphin.

Seraphin is the CEO of Global Wrap, a St. Augustine-based company which developed the procedure to shrink wrap buildings and large structures.

Aiding in disaster relief is a specialty of her business. Seraphin will take her audience to New Orleans three days after Hurricane Katrina to the specter of a hospital under water, a leaking roof, and the story of what happens in a city when disaster strikes.

She has been on site, working side-by-side with her crews after tornadoes hit Tennessee and Arkansas, and in Florida after hurricanes ravaged entire towns. Less traumatic situations involve running crews that wrap sports domes, covering steel beams in winter so concrete can be poured, and most recently wrapping a 25- story crane in the Panama Canal.

All are welcome to the Friday program. No reservations are required. Breakfast is ordered from the menu. A question and answer session follows Seraphin's presentation.
