In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Blessed Are the Peacemakers III
BURKE MARSHALL
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall catch hell from both sides."
--- Sign on the wall of the late Assistant United States Attorney General Burke Marshall (Civil Rights Division head under AG Robert Francis Kennedy, co-author of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which was passed thanks to the courage of St. Augustine residents who stood up for civil rights against segregationists in our St. Augustine City Hall, Police Department and County Sheriff's office).
