In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Flagler College Gargoyle: Flagler College Campus Expanding
The cat is now completely out of the bag. Flagler College's campus will grow even larger. Despite repeated promises to the people of St. Augustine that Flagler College would stay at a reasonable size, Flagler is planning on growing even larger. See the Gargoyle article below, stating inter alia: "With Flagler College expanding its campus size even more in the years to come, Stewart offered a few words of advice to all students."
That means more faculty without tenure, more students at a school without academic freedom, more colllege employees without collective bargaining or a union, and more tax-exempt property making all other property owners pay higher taxes to make up for it.
They should ask residents of the CIty of St. Augustine for making their expansion plans.
Other campuses (like Yale) pay 50% of what they would pay in lieu of taxes. Rose Kennedy's favorite Bible verse is telling: "to whom much is given, much is expected."
We expect Flagler College to start making payments in lieu of taxes. If it takes a state law, so be it. If it takes replacing FLagler COllege Chancellor WILLIAM L. PROCTOR as our state representative, so be it.
Let PROCTOR and Flagler College lead, follow or get out of the way. It's time for Flagler College to start paying its fair share to the City of St. Augustine.
