In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

SHERIFF DAVID SHOAR takes case to all-Republican audience (no WRecKord coverage, naturally)
Hate site operator MICHAEL GOLD f/k/a "MICHAEL TOBIN," with his Master's Voice, DAVID SHOAR, f/k/a "DAVID HOAR"
Last night, SHERIFF DAVID SHOAR f/k/a "DAVID HOAR" (his former name) took his case to the St. Johns County Republicans, meeting at the Yacht Club.
The City of St. Augustine owns the Yacht Club Building, requiring the Yacht Club to open the building to public meetings.
Having a private meeting of the kooks, KKK-kluckers, birthers, and bigots comprising the St. Johns County Republican Party is hardly making it available to the public, especially when the St. Augustine WReeKord reports that only registered Republicans are allowed to attend.
We liked it better when the Yacht Club building was an unpretentious little restaurant, the Lighthouse Restaurant, where you could take visitors for a quiet breakfast overlooking the marshes and Salt Run. Now it has been compromised by the eau d' Special Interest, starting with allowing snooty, segregationist-style, double-minded Republicans to have all-white meetings there that exclude anyone who is not a registered Republican.
Perhaps the City would be so kind as to remind the Yacht Club and the Republicans that the name of the building is the Salt Run Community Center. We all own it.
Perhaps the City should remind the Yacht Club that the lease contemplates what the City Commission minutes of November 2006 called "public meetings."
"Public meetings" does not mean private meetings, where Republicans can hear their embattled Sheriff DAVID SHOAR in private, without any public record being made.
What do you reckon?
