Right-winger attacked Robin Nadeau (to which above letter rsponds)

Letter: Some just don't get it

Editor: You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

You cannot further the brotherhood of a man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves. Those words were uttered by a woman Robin Nadeau (a recent contributor to The St. Augustine Record letter-box) would have you believe was a radical big government advocate such as she -- nonsense. Abraham Lincoln, the speaker of those brilliant thoughts suffered the same hate-filled diatribes in his time as our present-day president Mr. Bush faces. History has shown that in times of great peril men of determination and courage come to the fore. Our nation has been blessed with the commonsense to recognize such leadership qualities in time of crisis. The pantheon of the great will have a place for George W. Bush, our president, as it had for our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln. The Robin Nadeaus of this world just don't get it. Bush won. Thank God for that.
