Maj. Gen. Douglas Burnett, the adjutant general of Florida with the National Guard, will retire Saturday after more than 47 years of service in the military.
A change-of-command ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Camp Blanding near Starke on the parade field.
Maj. Gen. Emmet Titshaw will assume command Saturday. Titshaw has served as a special assistant to the director and the advisor to the chief of staff in the Air National Guard.
Burnett served as the adjutant general of Florida and a commander of the Florida National Guard for nearly nine years. He was appointed to the position by Gov. Jeb Bush in 2001.
The event on Saturday will include music by the Florida National Guard's 13th Army Band and a flyover by two F-15 Eagles and two F-22 Raptors piloted by members of the Florida Air National Guard.
