In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

IN HAEC VERBA: Complaint to Attorney General Eric Holder on ST. JOHNS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD REDISTRICTING
November 9, 2011
Honorable Eric Holder
Attorney General
Robert F. Kennedy Justice Department Building
950 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington, D.C. 20530 via fax to 202-307-6777
RE: ST. JOHNS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS
Dear General Holder:
We hereby request that you investigate civil rights violations by the St. Johns County School Board in St. Augustine, Florida, particularly violating of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments and the Voting Rights Act.
Please see our enclosed letter to the Civil Rights Commission concerning redistricting, unequal spending on schools and other violations of citizens’ rights under the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and the Voting Rights Act. The facts are irrefragable, ugly, stark and raw.
The late U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy said that “civil rights remains the unfinished business of America.” We agree.
Will you please investigate the St. Johns County School Board with an eye toward obtaining injunctive relief so that never again will citizens, including African-Americans and other minorities, see their civil rights be violated?
Sincerely,
JUDITH SERAPHIN
