The answer, according to an economic study of the national park system, is $67 million from visitor spending and more than 1,000 jobs in 2009.

Headwaters Economics has posted an interactive page with the statistics compiled from its economic study of the park system, which compiled the visitor data, job totals, and spending.

Canaveral National Seashore, located in Volusia and Brevard counties, is one of ten national seashores in the federal system. In 2009, Canaveral had more than 1 million visitors, who spent $67 millions. The park is credited with creating 1,068 jobs and only 72 of those jobs actually at the park itself. That job figure accounts for local jobs that depend on the park and its visitors.

The study shows that park visitor numbers, spending and jobs have all dropped since the peak in 2007. In 2007, visitor spending totaled $83 million.
