Editor: What a thrilling January in our Oldest City. Here are some of the highlights:
* Flagler College’s celebration of the opening of the Ponce de Leon Hotel some 125 years ago with exhibits, lectures and tours;
* Fascinating, entertaining lectures presented in our Flagler College’s newly renovated Lewis Auditorium regarding Pedro Menendez, Henry Flagler and Fountain of Youth’s presentation of Juan Ponce de Leon’s presence in our city;
* The City’s fabulous opening of the Picasso exhibit beautifully presented in our Visitors Information Center; It was well lit, artistically arranged and included interesting details of his life as an artist -- just awesome.
* To top off this wonderful January EMMA brings one of the finest orchestra’s we have ever witnessed, The China National Symphony presenting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in all its glory and the handsome piano prodigy Wu Muye, voted best Chinese musician in 1998 and many more honors who created standing ovations between each movement of Tchaikovsky’s Piano concerto No. 1 in B-Flat minor, Op. 23. The entire evening topped any EMMA concert we have ever had the privilege to enjoy. Wish all of you had been present.
Thank you, St. Augustine. We are so proud and honored to live in this beautiful, wonderful, cultural mecca.
