Failed 2012 City Commission candidate candidate Michael Gold (f/k/a "Michael Tobin") has written another errant "editorial" on his histrionic Historic City News website, raging against diversity.
Mr. Gold quotes controversial former City Manager William Pomar, who quit under pressure in 1998, as saying "the Bohemians have taken over the city."
Mr. Gold also says "nobody's ever heard of" Grammy-winning Mumford & Sons, whose 25,000 fans loved our city last month.
Mr. Gold once again ululates against diversity, e.g. "carpetbaggers" and "scallywags" and "awful politicians."
Mr. Gold has previously editorialized against the civil rights monument to Ambassador Andrew Young in our Slave Market Square, calling him an "outside agitator."
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
