SAB Resort Phase 1 Plans Bared

The new owners of St. Augustine Beach Resort is planning to reopen after demolition of parts of the old building and refurbishment of guest rooms. This plan is evidenced in E-mails shared by the St. Augustine Beach Manager under our Open Records law.

Key Inernational, paid $9.75 for the derelict, fenced 300 A1A Beach Blvd. property, which gets lousy reviews.
Key International Project Director Jon Craig told SAB Building and Planning Director Gary Larson by E-mail on February 4, 2014 that Key International:
1. will "espedite the first phase which iis to fully renovate the existing Guestroom buildings and re-open."
2. "most likely remove the attached indoor pool plus enclosure and also ultimately replace the outdoor pool."
(ed note: It appears that this excavation will requre archaeological work by County ordinance).
3. is "also considering removal of the building previously used for Guest check-in, meeting roms and the dinng area.
(Ditto).
4. plans to use natural gas (Ditto).
5. is willing to sell tables to the City of St. Augustine Beach for its events.
6. desires a meetng with Larson and its architect "in the near future to confirm the best process for our Phase 1 project approvals."
Earlier ths week, telephone and E-mail messages were left and sent to Key International executives and their lawyers from Akerman Senterfitt; those messages have not yet been answered.
