In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Only big city that did not riot after Dr. King was killed: best speech ever?
It would be difficult to imagine a politician of today quoting Aeschylus. All they can do now is twist the Bible to fit their depraved and narrow views. Why in this country do we almost have to be ashamed to publicly appreciate the gifts of beauty and knowledge to be found in great literature?
I don't think it is shame, Anonymous, as much as it is ignorance and stupidity. Blame our educational system. Teachers can do only so much in a world hurtling forward with inane technology. Literature is grossly underappreciated.
This magnificent speech by Bobby Kennedy can stand on its own. I think the overly dramatic music was distracting and unnecessary.
Thanks for posting, Ed.
Should have been read in Ferguson, MO. In fact, it still CAN be read in Ferguson.

We have lost all perspective. So sad.
