St. Johns County Clerk of Courts Cheryl Strickland has been advised by her lawyer to commence issuing wedding licenses to Gay or Lesbian couples on January 6, 2015 (absent any contrary opinion by the State Attorney General, Pamela Jo Bondi).
The advice from Attorney Geoffrey Dobson is in a legal memo that became a public record upon receipt.
Mr. Dobson's memo notes that there could be successful civil rights lawsuits in federal court for violating a known constitutional right -- a fact not noted by 1800-lawyer GREENBERG TRAURIG in its unconstitutional unlearned ukase last week.
Three cheers for Cheryl Strickland and Geoff Dobson! As then-Commissioner Donald W. Crichlow said March 24, 2014 in moving to provide equal pension benefits to Gay and Lesbian couples, "It's the right thing to do."

In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
