In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
This is a scam as old as the hills perpetrated upon a naive buyer.
ReplyDeleteThe city paid for the original version and as such it is released into the public domain where it is fair game for derivative works. Anyone can use it, or portions of it, with the caution that proper rights release of individuals within the work may not have been properly gathered.
The problem, I think you will find, is that the original contract lacked specificity and did not, but should have, required that the producer also turn over to the city any and all outtakes created in the production of the work (realizing that they could not profit from the outtakes they would have then most likely upped their price, especially if they had devious motives). Those outtakes (bird dog collected daily) should have then been cataloged and also made public domain available to the citizens. Check the original contract.
I am not saying that this was the case as I do not know where the additional minutes of the content added to the original production came from. But with Joe Doals involved the air reeks of immorality.
The real story here is what a cancer greedy gangster merchant tourism has become on the city and how it has destroyed our resident quality of life.
