Historic City News reports that St. Augustine Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB) member JEREMY MARQUIS has resigned. I called for resignation of HARB members JEREMY MARQUIS and Vice Chair PAUL M. WEAVER, III on May 21 because they are working for Carpenter House destroyer DAVID BARTON CORNEAL: this may have violated Sunshine laws, and WEAVER actually testified before the Planning and Zoning Board May 5, 2015 on the proposed Planned Unit Development for the former Dow Museum of Historic Homes.
I have asked our State of Florida, et al. to investigate the circumstances of Mr. Dow having possibly being euchred out of his art, furnishings, antiques and an entire block of homes by the DAYTONA MUSEUM OF ARTS AND SCIENCES (MOAS), only to sell the entire city block of historic homes to a millionaire lawyer, DAVID BARTON CORNEAL who demands to cut them up and rent them out to rich tourists as $500/night suites. (We'll just see about that.)
Last year, HARB Chair CLAUDE LEONARD WEEKS, JR. resigned after destroying Don Pedro Fornells House, a 211-year old Spanish colonial home at 62A Spanish Street that survived wars, hurricanes, regime change but not the malpractice of former Mayor Len WEEKS, who was fined only $3600 for the tort, crime and sin against historic preservation.
