Let's Do It for Hildegarde Pacetti! Save Old City South, HP-1 and Preserve and Protect Our History and Our DOW MUSEUM OF HISTORIC HOMES. NOW.

The Dow Museum will be saved! Count on it.
The spirit of Hildegarde Pacetti, who died two months ago, is watching over us.
She's watching our Nation's Oldest City during our 450th years.
SO: Avoid false dichotomies, especially from bullying, threatening developers (e.g., DAVID CORNEAL's and DONALD CRICHLOW's greedy ways "or else something terrible happens"). That's a GEORGE MORRIS McCLURE argument, and errant nonsense. As Jim Hightower said the first time I ever heard him speak, in 1978, "They're stealing the alternatives, folks!"
Let's do it for Hildegarde Pacetti! She would have opposed this obnoxious idea of cramming a hotel in her gracious neighborhood, Old City South!

Hildegarde Pacetti
Hildegarde Pacetti, a lifelong native of St. Augustine, died peacefully May 10, 2015. She was a sixth-generation St. Augustinian, born on Dec. 21, 1922, to Macy Pinkham Pacetti and Joseph Emmett Pacetti.
A graduate of FSU, she worked as an underwriter for Prudential Insurance before entering the real estate profession as an agent, working under her late brother, Emmett Pacetti in his downtown office. She was the president of the Historic Preservation District – 1, and was instrumental in helping craft the zoning ordinance for this historic residential neighborhood at the request of then Mayor Kenneth Beeson.
She believed in historic preservation and was a fierce defender of all of the Historic Districts, but her heart belonged to HP-1 and to the neighborhood she loved dearly and lived in until her death. Even failing health did not deter her from getting a ride to City Hall to speak her mind when she felt there were threats to the sanctity of this significant section of the city.

Preceding her in death were sisters, Irene Pacetti Wynn and Beverly Pacetti Owen and most recently her brother, Emmett William Pacetti.
She is survived by her brother, Pinkham Pacetti and his wife, Linda, Emmett Pacetti’s widow, Virginia; nephews, Joe Pacetti (Tracy), Dale Pacetti (Annette), Randy Pacetti, Ronnie Pacetti, Gary Owen (Kelly), Steve Owen, the late Arthur Owen; nieces, Paige Carlyle and Carol Guerriere (Doug), Elaine Owen (Mike) and great and great-great nephews/nieces, Lindsey, Joseph, Brittany, Kyndal, Christian, Blakely, Caroline, Drew, Cassandra, Virginia, Will, Logan, Lauren and Evan and Mason.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at San Lorenzo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charities would be appreciated.
Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park (www.craigfuneralhome.com) is in charge of the arrangements.
