In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

ILLEGAL OUT-OF-TOWN MEETINGS CONTINUE -- SUNSHINE VIOLATIONS BY BOTH CITIES OF ST. AUGUSTINE AND ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH
St. Augustine Beach City Attorney Douglas Nelson Burnett informs me by October 2, 2015 e-mail that Florida law was amended in 2014 to allow out-of-town city meetings with County Commissions if there is an "ordinance or resolution." F.S. 166.0213
BUT: Neither the City of St. Augustine nor the City of St. Augustine Beach have ever adopted such an "ordinance or resolution."
Simply scheduling a meeting is not an "ordinance or resolution."
Hence, their meetings with St. Johns County Commission at remote locations continue to be illegal.
And why would you want to hold a joint meeting at an ADA-inaccessible location several blocks far from sketchy public transportation, unadorned by videotape coverage on either cable or streaming video, live or on tape?
The Northeast Florida Regional Airport?
During the daytime?
Really?
Is that the best that you can do?
How unfriendly, louche and gauche can you get, Commissioners?
I filed an ADA complaint with USDOJ back in May, and will continue to oppose out-of-town meetings that are not ADA-accessible to the public, and not compliant with F.S. 166.0213.
