It's morning in St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and St. Johns County

After 6.5 years of continuing legal representation by a deeply conflicted developer lawyer who used the City's website for advertising and represented a developer that wanted to buy a 6.1 acre park, controversial St. Augustine Beach, Florida City Attorney DOUGLAS NELSON BURNETT resigned last night.

"Good career move."  (That's what Gore Vidal said when Truman Capote died).

We don't need disloyal public servants.

BURNETT never disclosed his client list.

BURNETT is not the only disloyal public servant.

We've got Commissioners in St. Augustine and St. Johns County still beholden to developers, including people like County Commission Chair PRISCILLA ("RACHAEL") BENNETT (R-Hutson Companies) and City Commissioner LEANNA S.A FREEMAN, who worship LEN WEEKS, ex-Mayor who destroyed DON PEDRO FORNELLS HOUSE, admittedly working illegally and habitually without permits, and who make inept excuses for legislators.

By the way, ex-Mayor of St. Augustine, Florida LEN WEEKS spoke to the other itty bitty City's City Commission last night about his all-white Sister Cities organization, pimping a $45 coffee table book.  He did not apologize for destruction of DON PEDRO FORNELLS HOUSE.  He did not apologize for the all-white Sister Cities organization.

No one applauded the shifty ex-Mayor.

It's morning in St. Augustine: the good people have awakened. When WEEKS destroyed DON PEDRO FORNELLS HOUSE and when DAVID BARTON CORNEAL destroyed CARPENTER's HOUSE, "all they did was awake a sleeping giant," in the words of Japanese Admiral Yamamoto after his attack on Pearl Harbor.

It's morning in St. Augustine: in the words of Maya Angelou's January 20, 1993 Inaugural poem:

Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And into your sister's eyes, into
Your brother's face, your country
And say simply
Very simply
With hope
Good morning.
