Will the St. Augustine City Commission -- 80% women (four out of five) request an FBI investigation?
I look forward to hearing the issue discussed at the January 11, 2015 5 PM City Commission meeting at 75 King Street by Mayor Nancy Shaver, Vice Mayor Roxanne Horvath and Commissioners Nancy SIkes-Kline, Leanna Freeman (a domestic relations attorney) and Todd Neville.
What do y'all reckon?
Update: The lawyer for the alleged sexual assailant serves on the St. Augustine Police Retirement Board. I have asked attorney DANIEL KARL HILBIRT to resign before tonight's City Commission meeting.
Dear Mr. Hilbert:
1. As the Supreme Court said famously in United States v. Mississippi Valley Generating Company, 364 U.S. 520 (1960) (the "Dixon-Yates" case), all conflict of interest laws are based upon Matthew ("A man cannot serve two masters"), particularly where one is his own personal profit.
2. I hereby suggest that you please resign from the St. Augustine Police Retirement Board due to possible conflict of interest and appearance of impropriety. http://folioweekly.com/FINDING-STRENGTH-IN-NUMBERS,14433
3. You are a criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor.
4. You are the criminal defense attorney for a high-profile individual whose non-prosecution by SAPD for the alleged sexual assaults of seven (7) victims is the subject of an article in the current issue of Folio Weekly. http://folioweekly.com/FINDING-STRENGTH-IN-NUMBERS,14433
5. Your service as an member of the Police Retirement Board gives rise to an inference of potential bias and favoritism toward your clients.
6. Will you please resign?
7. Our City Commission meets tonight at 5 PM and can authorize advertising for your replacement at that time.
Thank you.
With kindest regards, I am,
Sincerely yours,
Ed Slavin

I reckon don't hold your breath.
ReplyDeleteThe St Augustine Record appears to be in cahoots of sorts with the St. John's County Sheriff's Office. Ever look at the "Police Log" and some of the ridiculous charges that are never, ever challenged by the nice folks from Morris? The one "charge" that I like that has appeared more than once in the police log, names a Prisoner, whose address is listed as the Jail; was arrested and charged with "failure to appear"? No explanation was given. Where is Dottie Andrews when we need her? http://jimromenesko.com/2014/02/17/retired-proofreader-90-offers-to-help-st-augustine-record-catch-errors/
ReplyDelete"Failure to appear" in court, right? Defendant in criminal case is a no-show and they get arrested.
