Re “Dithering on ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’” (editorial, Oct. 14):
We hear the cry of “activist judges” from those who have forgotten their civics lesson on the three coequal branches of our government.
When more than 75 percent of citizens and a majority of senators want injustice and discrimination ended in the armed forces by repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell,” we should not be proud of the legislative branch when a minority can obstruct this vital reform with a filibuster. The judicial branch has done what the executive branch — President Obama in his State of the Union address — has said is “the right thing to do.”
