In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Lareau is well-prepared, well-qualified for Clerk
Editor: It was my honor and privilege to serve as the Clerk of the Court & Comptroller for 19 years. I could not have done it without the hard work and dedication of the great staff and, especially, Mr. George Lareau.
When I appointed him Chief Deputy, he had worked in different departments for 13 years, rising to a director position. He gained a wealth of knowledge and experience about the operation of the clerk’s office and the operation of the courts. I selected him as Chief Deputy because of his knowledge, experience, intelligence, integrity, dedication and reliability.
During his time as Chief Deputy, he was responsible to help oversee the entire operation of the office. He has the knowledge of the many changes that have impacted the office over the years. This historical knowledge is so important to help understand factors that drive the office operations. He oversaw many software program implementations. He worked to implement Supreme Court orders that dramatically changed access to court records. He worked to implement new laws passed by the legislature. During our budget crisis, he was critical to the continued operation of the office during the lean years. Through it all, we were always striving for better ways to serve the public.
George Lareau is well-qualified to serve.

Thank you Mrs. Strickland for helping the people of St Johns county decide who we should put in that office. And thank you for your service to the citizens over the years. George Lareau is the only logical choice for Clerk of Court.

George Lareau has paid his dues, and been an important part of the Clerk's office for years. It has been run efficiently and with integrity, and that makes it a simple choice.

The guy has a great record, a long history and is well liked by his peers. That's not say that Conrad is a bad guy, but I hold anyone Scott appoints suspect when we are perfectly capable of promoting from within and already have someone who has been acting in that capacity. My vote goes to George.
