In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Veterans' Day
On Veterans Day, I remember my late father (1913-2003), Ed Slavin, Sr., a veteran of three World War II combat jumps (Normandy, Sicily and North Africa), winner of three Bronze Stars, a machine-gunner who slayed Nazis to secure our freedom, for whom the "Corporal Edward A. Slavin Chapter" (South Jersey) of the 82nd Airborne Divn. Assn. Inc. is named. When he appeared on Philadelphia TV documentary on Memorial Day 1998, I learned for the first time about the three Bronze Stars; he told me, "They gave one to everyone who jumped" into Nazi-occupied territory.
TODAY, in St. Augustine, there was a lovely Veterans' Day Parade, narrated by the Honorable Howard McGillin, Circuit Court Judge, West Point graduate, a retired Colonel. Judge McGillin will preside on December 7, 2016 (Pearl Harbor Day) at the trial of the case of O'Brien v. Reynolds, in which St. Augustine Beach Mayor RICHARD BURTT O'BRIEN seeks to chill, coerce and retaliate against government watchdog Thomas F. Reynolds for reporting possible environmental crimes.
My father taught me, as JFK's father taught him, that if you don't stand up to people with power, they walk all over you. That's exactly what tacky tatterdemalion motelier RICHARD BURTT O'BRIEN is attempting to do. Wear black armbands to City Commission on November 14, 2016. Wear black armbands to Circuit Court on December 7, 2016. Protest injustice and hick hacks' insolent carpet bombing of the Constitution of the United States.
