In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Happy birthday to former Mayor George Gardner

Happy birthday to former St. Augustine Mayor George R. Gardner, who turns 80 today. An early reformer, taking on the corrupt political machine of then-Managre WILLIAM BARRY ARRISS, Mr. Gardner served as our Mayor from 2002-2006, remaining on the Commission until 2008. Salud! Viva!
