Dan Gelber's proposed legislation would have prevented nursing home deaths but lobbyists killed it


Then State Rep. Daniel Saul Gelber's bill would have required emergency generator backups for nursing homes.  Greedy nursing home owners and miserly government officials killed it.  (Gelber was later a State Senator and candidate for Governor; he's now running for Miami Beach Mayor). After Wilma, bills were pushed to ensure nursing homes had emergency AC. They were killed.
