Mayor Nancy Shaver Defeats "Political Tourist" BILL McCLURE, who spent $31/vote to lose

What a way to celebrate the 453rd anniversary of St. Augustine!
We've survived wars, weather, Caudillos and Political Tourists.
"Political Tourist" BILL McCLURE (BM) was crushed.
BM thought he would buy the office of Mayor of St. Augustine.
We, the People, proved BM wrong.
Bumptious bully BM listed Apartment No. 6 at the 105 Marine Street Tourist Home as his residence.  BM had the support of, well, no one.
Facing imminent arrest or criminal charges for Medicaid fraud, this fast-talking fraudfeasor suffered ignominious defeat on August 28, 2018, during Primary Election Day.  (corrected).
Even with another ringer in the race, BM was unable to force St. Augustine's beloved Mayor Nancy Shaver into a runoff.
As we cheered on Election Night, "Four More Years!"
The St. Augustine Record's coverage of the campaign was almost nonexistent.
Thank God for blogs.  Some of us are still fulfilling the Founding Father's vision of hold those in power accountable to We, the People.

    Ed,

You really need to gain self control...seriously at your advanced age start living proper!

I say this as a supporter...yes...thats right...I agree with you!

My comment goes to you acting like Trump....hello...Eddie...you won...how about that...my candidate and your won..Ms. Shaver.

The difference my misguided friend is that I don't need to act like Trump and rub it in...why would a educated man continue to dispare a loser like McClure?

Let it go...get some dignity man, clean up your blog and my god...don't continue to disparage losers. You can be above that Ed

I am shocked and appalled by your crude and rude, Trump like behavior. Clean it up friend.

  2. Shocked and appalled? Sorry to shock and appall anyone.

But JFK said, "Politics is a business of knives." It's not bean ball. This ain't no disco. This ain't no party. This ain't no foolin'' around. This is democracy, which is not a spectator sport. The notion that BM and his wealthy friends could buy the Mayor's job is worthy of laughter, celebration and dancing in the streets.

Sorry to offend your tender sensibilities, ANONYMOUS.

Ok thank you! Perhaps my comments were a bit to harsh BUT we have lost our collective sense of grace in this awful age of Trump.

I realize that politics is dirty...and yes, I agree that B.M.'s campaign was a joke and insult. However, we won and he lost. It is a simple as that.

Goodness prevailed and I much prefer to take the approach of the honorable John McCain who was as full of grace winning as he was losing.

Contrast McCain to Trump...McCain went so far as to DEFEND his opponent (Obama) back in 2008. While I often disagreed with McCain I always thought of him as being honorable.

Jump to Trump who even after winning and gaining power still felt the petty need to belittle his opponents..instead of unify he destroys and divides and it is ugly to witness.

Ed, you are a good man at heart...no need to keep beating loser B.M., instead, rise up and unify. Lets get this town back on track ( and to do that ..yes, we need all of B.M.'s misguided supporters on board as well...right?)

    Thanks Ed

Want to run for office somewhere? Just rent a room and write down the address. Hell, just rent a room in every county and run for every office possible. You're bound to win office somewhere and then just move to wherever you strike gold. By God this man was a shade tree.
