Florida county dedicates new Civil War memorial (AP)

A Confederate monument to all who fought for the Confederacy and the United States of America.

Great idea.

Promotes healing.

We are one country and one people.

We won't let racists divide us, no matter what their color or political office.

Florida county dedicates new Civil War memorial

today
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A new monument in Tampa was erected with a nod to those who fought for both the Confederacy and the Union.
The Tampa Bay Times reports the new memorial features two granite obelisks mounted with informational plaques and separated by a few dozen feet of blue marble meant to symbolize the Hillsborough river.
It was dedicated Saturday at a park.
Until Saturday, Veterans Memorial Park included monuments honoring local veterans from nearly every major American conflict — but no major monument dedicated to the Civil War.
In March, a Confederate monument was been relocated from the grounds of a Florida courthouse in downtown Tampa to a private cemetery.
Some 15,000 Floridians fought for the Confederacy during the war, and 2,000 more fought for the Union.

Still pondering this. Agree with your statement we are 1 country...don't let racists divide us...then switching to honoring the racists who actually spilled blood in an attempt to divide us and literally destroy the Union (illegally I might add...pure criminals justas I would be if I started firing cannons at Fort Dix NJ or Naval Station Mayport...stating oh but its really freedom of choice and we all here in Duval want to secede from both FL and the Union so that we can start using slaves again...whoo hoo yay..someday some freaking idiot will honor us with a monument:)

Nope said it before..Sherman stopped way to soon...way to soon.
