The County Administrator has announced the death of District 23 Medical Examiner Dr. PREDRAG BULIC, M.D., crackpot coverup artist author of the guns-recoil-forward-theory that defies ballistic science
There must now be an honest search for an honest person to be our Medical Examiner, in the wake of the fetid, feculent offensive coverup of the September 2, 2010 homicide of Ms. Michell O'Connell in the home of St. Johns County Sheriff's Deputy JEREMY BANKS.
That crime was covered up by BULIC, 7th Circuit State's Attorney RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA and corrupt Sheriff DAVID SHOAR, who legally changed his name from "HOAR" in 1994.
St. Augustine Record under prior owners covered up the Michelle O'Connell homicide, with its provincial editors and reporters serving as servile units in supine service to sibilant Sheriff S/HOAR.
So it's not surprising that BULIC's death brings us a silly, self-serving, shallow callow amateurish news obituary from the incredible shrinking St. Augustine Record.
Incompetent Dr. PREDRAG BULIC, M.D. and his maladroit colleague, Dr. FREDERICK HOBIN, M.D. were both disciplined for their misconduct related to complaints filed in the wake of the Michelle O'Connell case.
- BULIC thought that guns recoil forward, and demonstrated his unscientific crackpot theory for three-time. Pulitzer Prize winning PBS Frontline and New York Times reporter Walt Bogdanich, whose epic interview may be seen in the Frontline video. See photo above.
- Later, the autopsy report was amended to find homicide, not suicide.
- Two respected judges found probable cause that Deputy JEREMY BANKS committed homicide -- County Court Judge Charles Tintin, who ordered search warrants, and United States District Court Judge Brian J. Davis, who dismissed BANKS' sloppy SLAPP lawsuit against FDLE Special Agent Rusty Ray Rodgers.
- An independent autopsy later found that Ms. O'Connells jaw was broken, consistent with homicide -- a fact missed by the mendacious M.E. office.≈
Thus, Sheldon Gardner's article on BULIC leaves much to be desired.
Who will select his successor, and how? State's Attorney RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA, then Assistant State's Attorney ROBERT KEITH MATHIS (ex-judge and son of the segregationist judge who sentenced the St. Augustine Four to juvenile prisons for protesting), and then UnderSheriff JOEL BOLANTE were two of the members of the undistinguished committee that hired BULIC.
We expect better from the new Executive Editor of the St. Augustine Record is an investigative reporter, former CEO of Center for Public Integrity, founded by Chuck Lewis. (Footnote: Chuck was always ab impressive guy -- my former co-worker down the hall in Washington, D.C. when I did some freelance work on coal issues for ABC News as an undergraduate).
From St. Augustine Record:
St. Johns County Medical Examiner Dr. Predrag Bulic dies at 63
Predrag Bulic served the district for nearly 11 years, including as part of controversial case
St. Johns County Medical Examiner Dr. Predrag Bulic died over the weekend, and an interim medical examiner is serving in his place, according to a county government news release.
Bulic. 63, died from health complications, but the county didn't specify the cause.
Dr. Jon Thogmartin is the interim medical examiner for the District 23 office and will serve until a permanent replacement is announced, according to the release.
The district serves St. Johns, Putnam and and Flagler counties.
The state-mandated office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of certain deaths, including those involving violent crimes, suspicious circumstances, suicides and people who die in police custody, among others, according to the district's website. Bulic was called on to testify in some criminal cases.
Former Gov. Rick Scott appointed Bulic to the post in 2011.
“We are sorry to hear of Dr. Bulic’s unexpected passing," St. Johns County Administrator Hunter Conrad said in the release. "Our hearts go out to his wife and family during this difficult time. Dr. Bulic served District 23 for nearly 11 years, and during that time, he led the Medical Examiner’s Office with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail. He will be greatly missed in our community."
Bulic was involved in a death investigation that became widely controversial.
In 2010, St. Johns County resident Michelle O'Connell died from a gunshot wound, and the bullet came from the gun of a deputy and her boyfriend at the time, Jeremy Banks.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office led the initial investigation and ruled the 24-year-old’s death a suicide, while family members rejected that conclusion and said they believe Banks is responsible. Banks said O'Connell shot herself and maintains his innocence.
