Don Gaetz
Don Gaetz is a small business owner and former public official.
He is a founder of hospice care in America and co-founder and former vice chairman of a Florida-based national company operating hospice programs in 34 states. He served as a senior executive of two faith-based multi-hospital systems and is president of Caregivers, Inc., a provider of personal care services to the elderly, disabled and children in Northwest Florida. He is affiliated with several other Florida businesses.
Mr. Gaetz was the first Town Chairman of Seaside, Florida. He was elected as a member and chairman of the Okaloosa County School Board and elected as Okaloosa County’s Superintendent of Schools. He served ten years in the Florida Senate, including two as Senate President. He was appointed by the Senate to the Constitution Revision Commission and by the House of Representatives as a member and current chairman of Triumph Gulf Coast, a $1.5 billion economic development and recovery fund for coastal Northwest Florida.
He is a director and trustee of several educational, philanthropic and human service organizations and institutions.
Don Gaetz earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and political science and a Master’s in public administration and has been awarded numerous honorary degrees and other honors by U.S. universities and colleges.
Don and his wife, Victoria, a retired pharmacist, have two adult children: Erin, a digital media producer, and Matt, a United States Congressman.
