ANNALS OF DeSANTISTAN: Boy Governor RONALD DION DeSANTIS and his meritless attack on education, hoist on its own petard by College Entrance Examination Board. Three cheers!
From NPR:
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Woke is just the bare minimum of how people should treat each other in a civilized society. Republicans don't like these concepts because the right wing thrives on class division, us versus them, in groups and out groups, winners and losers, and haves and have nots. Without division and a constant stream of enemies, the right wing cannot survive. Republicans always claim that teaching about race and racism is divisive, when in actuality they don't want it taught so that division will be maintained.
ReplyDeleteTrump will wreck his chances for the presidency by throwing a tantrum like likes of which the country has never seen. Trump will run 3rd party and split the vote rather than see Ron DeSanctimonious beat him. Then Trump will lose and Ron DeSanctimonious will end up a Pontevedra mullet fisherman taking shots of whiskey on the beach with Bill McClure.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the worst thing that Republicans can do is go against the woke and fall into that trap. It might win them local or state elections but it's going to continue to hurt them in national elections. The "culture war" is not winnable for them and they should understand that and stick to policy. Otherwise, their right wing counter culture will be just as irrelevant as any other fad that might sweep across America. Then what will they have besides a reputation for being that guy who placed a "kick me" sign on his own back? What is the end game of taking a stance against teaching social studies?
