City announces creation of Neighborhood Services and CRA Administration Division

Jaime D. Perkins appointed Manager of newly created division

City Manager David Birchim announced the creation of the Neighborhood Services and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Administration Division and appointed the city’s CRA Manager, Jaime D. Perkins as the division’s manager.

The division was created in response to the growing demand for support and administration of neighborhood project and grant requests, and the need for more coordinated, streamlined efforts between the historic, established neighborhoods and the Community Redevelopment Agency.

“I am truly honored to accept the position and the new responsibilities of the Neighborhood Services and Community Redevelopment Agency Manger,” Perkins said.  “I am excited to continue the redevelop journey of the CRA and offer more direct support to the many wonderful neighborhoods and the constituents of our very special City.  With the reorganization of our city, I look forward to working with neighborhood organizations and coordinating our efforts to create opportunities that will continue to make our city one that we all love.”

Perkins will be responsible for the development of long term and annual action and finance plans for implementing community-related development.  She will collaborate with other city departments to serve as the manager for planning, designing, and implementing redevelopment projects within the CRA as well as for capital improvements.

“In this position, Jaime will be able to continue the great work she’s already doing with the CRA and expand to working with all of our neighborhoods, providing oversight, leadership, and implementation of various community projects,” Birchim stated.  “It will also allow for developing policy, working with neighborhood associations to develop long-term initiatives, and of course managing the associated budgets.”

Perkins obtained her Master of Public Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2014. Since joining the city, Perkins has acquired over $1 million dollars in grant funding for the Institutional Rehabilitation Grant Program and revised the Lincolnville Community Redevelopment Area (LCRA) residential home repair program, “Fix-it-Up”.  This program awards qualified applicants with up to $50k in grant funding for health and safety repairs to their home.
