Rather than write rules, like Orange County, St. Johns County Commission Chairman CHRISTIAN WHITEHURST has at least twice asked if developers would waive their rights under the Live Local Act.
This makes me uncomfortable. Bottom line: Sounds like SJC BoCC Chair CHRISTIAN WHITEHURST's questions about Live Local Act may violate Fair Housing Act and Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Why would he do this?
This is the same unqualified, willful County Commissioner who on January 17, 2023, blocked adoption of a Public Housing Authority on a 3-2 vote by saying he didn't want "the kind of people" who receive HUD Section 8 Housing Vouchers living in his County.
On January 23, 2023, I filed a Title VI and Fair Housing Act complaint with HUD on this refusal.
On August 17, 2023, St. Johns County refused HUD's offer to conciliate between the parties.
This is bad faith.
It was a local law firm purporting to represent St. Johns County that refused, rather than the actual County Attorney, or actual County Commission!
I have requested records on this firm's authority and hiring.
As Thomas Jefferson said, "I have sworn upon the Altar of Almighty God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of [humankind].
