NEW YORK DAY BY DAY; Waterborne Nuptials
The bride, a Doyle Dane Bernbach copywriter, wore white (calf- length). The bridegroom, a Wells, Rich, Greene copywriter, wore seersucker. They were married on the foredeck of the Selisa M. as the 112- foot motor yacht rounded lower Manhattan, on her way to the Hudson from an East River moorage
This is the season, holding its own with June, for weddings aboard the 32 boats that World Yacht Enterprises Ltd. has under summer charter in New York waters.
The wedding business ''seems to be recession-proof,'' according to Neil Heap, president of the company, with at least two ceremonies a week among the events aboard the boats, which carry catering crews and up to 200 guests.
The copywriting couple, Nicole Cranberg, a 1977 University of Texas graduate, and Frederick Gifford Crosby 3d, a 1969 University of Michigan graduate, were married July 9. The only flaw in ''my dream wedding,'' she said yesterday, was that, under the Manhattan Bridge, ''the traffic drowned out some of the vows.''
''Both of us love the city - we wanted to be married surrounded by it,'' Mrs. Crosby said. ''And it makes perfect sightseeing for out-of-town relatives.''
''Some couples think the yacht captain can marry them,'' Mr. Heap said. ''That's only in international waters.''
