PBSO captain's spouse accused of defrauding Medicare with twin brother (Palm Beach Post)

Surrounded by fraudfeasors, Florida governments are inept and maladroit at protecting our public fisc.  One-party rule is an contributing factor, whether in South Florida (Democrats) or North Florida (Republicans).  The corruption is inbred. Baked in?   From Palm Beach Post:

PBSO captain's spouse accused of defrauding Medicare with twin brother

Investigators say the South Florida twins submitted phony insurance claims for reimbursement on medical equipment patients didn't need.

WEST PALM BEACH — Federal prosecutors say the wife and brother-in-law of a high-ranking member of Palm Beach County law enforcement defrauded Medicare out of more than $9 million. If convicted, they could spend up to 55 years in federal prison.

Ted Albin and Erin Foley, South Florida twins and owners of a medical billing company, are accused of conspiring with clients to bill insurers for medical equipment their patients didn't need. In addition to the multimillion dollar payout from insurers, investigators say the twins earned kickbacks for helping others commit fraud, too.

Foley's husband, Randy Foley, leads the Behavioral Services Division at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. He was not named in the 14-page indictment and has not been charged with a crime.

His wife and brother-and-law were indicted in December after investigators identified the siblings' West Palm Beach company, Grapevine Professional Services Inc., as one of several across the country believed to have exploited the federal insurance program.

“Medicare is a valuable taxpayer-funded program, designed to provide affordable health care to people over 65 or with disabilities,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams in the wake of their arrest. “Not to line the pockets of those who would enrich themselves through fraud."

What are you talking about? They got charged so how is government responsible for not protecting this that and they other? The cop hasn't been indicted. If the perpetrators hadn't been caught or it was covered up then you could make claims.. but here you continue to make claims not based in reality but bent to mean something it doesn't. Just absurd.

Yeah but your comments aren't. They busted the people so how does that vibe with your comment on the article?

  3. I've lived in Florida since 1995 and in St. Augustine since 1999. My opinions are valid. Pay attention. How long did it take SJSO to discover $786,785 in embezzlement? 5 years. Pitiful. When in his long career has RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA ever targeted white collar crime and corruption. At least PBSO had an honest State's Attorney in David Aronberg. What do we have here? One party rule, gerrymandering and a County Commission frozen in the ice of its own indifference. Read the 25 reform ideas they refused to discuss since March 15, 2022?

You're taking one situation and applying it to something that's not really that relevant...

Both cases go against your point actually, accept in the case mentioned in the article, they caught the person who had nothing to do with the government. In the case of Brutnell, they caught her late. Neither case implies that the authorities just let the transgression slide or covered anything up.
