Letter: Dettra acted in taxpayers' best interests

Editor: The revenge of the bureaucrats repeats itself in the classic handling of Ryan Dettra's conscientious criticisms (Dettra case closed for now, July 7). All too often the well-meaning whistleblower is shafted by those whose mischief or ineptitude he has had the courage to criticize.
Apparently the proper etiquette was to express himself behind closed doors to avoid hurting the delicate sensitivities of those involved, by letting the public in on the issues as he did.
From what I have read, I fail to see where he did anything wrong except use poor judgment in criticizing some small minded people who were unfortunately in a position to demonstrate their displeasure to his detriment
It would appear Dettra's intentions were in the best interests of the taxpayers, and this classic punishment that all too often occurs is a disincentive to potential whistleblowers to make public issues that merit possible correction.
The ongoing investigation initiated as a result would seem to indicate someone thinks there is something here worth looking into.
Those sensitive to criticism should stay out of politics, as is so well evidenced by the McCrystal affair.
