So glad we have a wonderful new Mayor, Nancy Shaver, who spoke to a public meeting at Cafe 11 tonight. She appreciates my work to make this a better place, if some City Hall denizens do not. She mentioned how important it is to have civil public discourse, and thanked me helping with Justice Peggy Quince, who administered her oath of office Monday night. Everyone there is so happy that Joe Boles is no longer our mayor -- Boles refused to shake Nancy Shaver's hand Monday night. How gauche and louche.
Mayor Shaver spoke about her successful grass roots campaign, her career, and the need to reform city processes and procedures. She was asked about restoring artists and musicians and ending the good-ole-boy system.
She wowed the crowd, who felt her warmth and authenticity.
We shall overcome.
