Library Hours Cut Back (Except in Wealthy Ponte Vedra)

Editor: I cannot believe the St. Johns County Commissioners think making new ball fields is more important than libraries. Baseball is a sport for kids of all ages. Libraries are lifelong enrichment — the blood of the community.
There should be more hours daily and more openings on Sundays.
The community should be up in arms about this stupid reduction in hours. I’m glad the security guards are gone. They were a waste of money. In my day, the librarian took care of that. I did not notice any cut in hours at the rich Ponte Vedra Branch.
Another waste of money is transporting books between libraries. Take your books back to the library you got the book from. This is more important than repaving some roads.
Please contact your county commission to reinstate full hours at our libraries.
