Ex-Commissioner ERROL JONES ARRESTED AGAIN

Nothing in The St. Augustine Record about this. Wonder why?

Former St. Augustine City Commissioner ERROL DONLEDY JONES, a/k/a "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?," age 73, was arrested for failure to appear in court on Monday April 11, 2016 and released from St. Johns County Jail a/k/a "NEIL J. PERRY CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMPLEX" on $5000 bond.

Former City Commissioner ERROL JONES was arrested by St. Augustine Police Department (SAPD) March 11, 2016 for assault with two knives on a relative, then re-arrested by SAPD March 12, 2016 because he allegedly violated the Judge's no-contact order by going home.

Former City Commissioner ERROL JONES was one of the meanest, angriest, least productive St. Augustine City Commissioners ever to serve, insulting and violating the rights of tour guides, street performers, environmentalists and other citizens.

JONES vehemently defended City Manager WILLIAM HARRISS after he dumped a landfill in a lake, supported Chester Stokes destroying our historic 1916 Ponce de Leon Golf course into homes (with government brownfield tax deduction subsidies), supported every crooked developer project to come before Commission.

JONES once angrily said, "We don't want a National Park. We don't need a National Park."

JONES habitually appeared at Commission and public meetings intoxicated, and when Global Wrap® CEO Judith Seraphin pointed out this fact in the 2008 Commission debate before the St. Augustine Record editorial board, JONES did not deny it.

After being arrested for resisting arrested and sued for sexual harassment, JONES received some 12% of the vote in the August 2014 primary, running fourth (Roxanne Horvath was eventually elected to the seat).

When he interfered with police interviewing a relative, JONES was arrested for resisting arrest in 2011. JONES said to officers, "Do you know who I am?" This later led Vice Mayor LEANNA S.A. FREEMAN to joke to fellow Commissioners that she was pondering having her Commission badge-nameplate revised to reflect the words, "Do you know who I am?"?

In the middle of the night, JONES called City Manager John Regan, who refused to "fix" the case for then-Commissioner JONES. (Under prior City Managers, Commissioners' peccadilloes were traditionally covered up, allowing City Managers like WILLIAM BARRY HARRIS to own Commissioner votes). Lesson: when the City Manager is not blackmailing Commissioners, the police can do their job.
