The St. Augustine Record is quick to engage in fear, smear and scare tactics against activists like video-journalist Jeff Gray, running an article on its website on March 14, 2016 and on its front page on March 15, 2016 about a "trespassing" charge for picketing on a sidewalk in front of his son's school, with a sign that bore the words "First Amendment is Not a Crime."
All charges were dismissed on April 25, 2016, with Assistant State Attorney Benjamin Rich, Jr. filing a notice with the Court.
The Record was notified that very day, before its deadline.
Mr. Gray spoke with a reporter on the telephone.
Still no article in the Record.
Why?
Waiting for more "spin" from the School Superintendent and Sheriff (whose re-election he unwisely endorsed)?
You tell me.
Will the Record report the dismissal as prominently as it did the arrest?
If so, in real or geologic time?
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
