In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Commissioners to Address Demolition Derby
Thanks to Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline, City Commissioners will consider a solution to the orgy of demolitions in St. Augustine, perhaps by their December meeting. During the September 26, 2016 City Commission meeting, Commissioner Sikes-Kline brought up the demolition derby, including people destroying historic buildings without permits. Commissioner Leanna Freeman agreed, with Commissioners asking the staff to research options for discouraging lawbreaking by developers, contractors and developers.
No one mentioned the worst offenders by name -- ex-Mayor LEN WEEKS and ex-PZB Chair JOHN VALDES, but their overt lawbreaking acts hung over the Commissioners like a cloud.
