In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!

Protecting Americans From Eminent Domain Overreach
At age 21, I was delighted to write an 11,500 word investigative article, "The Big Sluice," that helped environmentalists, farmers, ranchers, et al. to persuade Congress to stop coal slurry pipelines in 1978. How? By denying eminent domain powers sought by Bechtel, Big Oil, Big Coal and the Who's Who of Houston. Did you know that two more state legislatures voted to deny eminent domain for pipelines this year? Here's an AP article from the Bismarck (ND) Tribune. How cool is that?
