The Lexingon-Kentucky Herald Leader apologized to its readers for not covering the civil rights struggles in Kentucky's capital city (see below). The Herald Leader then provided the news it had censored and covered up in the 1960s.
It's long past time for the St. Augustine WRecKord to do the same.
Apologize for your racist coverage of the 1964 civil rights demonstrations.
Apologize for listing KKK meetings' locations in advance.
Apologize for listing the addresses of the children who were desegregation our schools.
Apologize now.
Or else no one will take you seroiusly as a newspaper in the second decade of the 21s century.
Apologize, ye pious hypocrites.
In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
