Editor: Vote "no" on the proposed $22 million St. Johns County sales tax increase.
In these tough economic times, higher taxes are the last thing we need.
Each day around our great county families make tough decisions regarding their budgets. St. Johns businesses are forced to make tough decisions as well.
Why shouldn't our government have to make the same tough financial choices? We should use priority budgeting methods that put every line-item under review to make sure they are necessary, efficient and the best use of our tax dollars.
We must allow our citizens to keep the money they work hard for.
We must protect our free market system and fight to keep St. Johns County friendly to businesses and working families.
I am definitely voting "no" on the St. Johns County sales tax increase.

In secret, behind locked gates, our Nation's Oldest City dumped a landfill in a lake (Old City Reservoir), while emitting sewage in our rivers and salt marsh. Organized citizens exposed and defeated pollution, racism and cronyism. We elected a new Mayor. We're transforming our City -- advanced citizenship. Ask questions. Make disclosures. Demand answers. Be involved. Expect democracy. Report and expose corruption. Smile! Help enact a St. Augustine National Park and Seashore. We shall overcome!
